Permanent Position
We are seeking a Public Health Advisor to join the dedicated Public Health team. This rewarding position is responsible for evidence-based public health action and reducing inequities in health through the planning, implementation and evaluation of high quality public health programmes. You will utilise your skills in advocacy, collaboration and public health communications to address the determinants of health and reduce inequities, particularly for Māori.
This role supports the Taranaki District Health Board vision, “Taranaki, together a healthy community – Taranaki Whanui he rohe oranga.”
A sound working knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi is essential.
Ideally, you will have experience in using or knowledge of equity tools, such as the Health Equity Assessment Tool and Health Impact Assessment, along with experience in working collaboratively as part of intersectoral groups towards shared objectives, and public health communications.
A tertiary level qualification (minimum three year degree level or equivalent) in public health, social science, communications or Māori studies, development or Reo Māori is required. Postgraduate qualifications in public health are desirable. You must have a current driver’s licence.
